I've asked a few veteran Library Media Specialists how they catalog such books. For example, 39 Clues are written by various authors. The problem is, if a students wants to read the series, there's not one specific area where the books are housed. My goal is to place them together. One of my mentors places such books in a completely different area of the library. So, there's a section for series books written by various authors. My other mentor places them within the main stacks, but she catalogs them by their titles rather than by the author's last names. For the easy\/everybody books that are popular...Star Wars, Spider Man, Pokemon, etc., she catalogs them as
\nE STA, E SPI, E POK, etc....So the children can easily find them. It's not the standard way of cataloging them, but it works for her students. I read their information often and am awestruck at the offerings available to their students.
